Description

One of the most famous ships of small dimensions of the United States Navy, was the Enterprise schooner, built by Henry Spencer at Baltimore, Maryland, in 1799.
It contains the traditional construction kit. It's a boat of wood and metal, scale 1:51.
Hollow town with false keel and laser cut ribs.
Parts pre-cut wood, turning brass and pieces in casting for details.
Presented in a luxury box with all components classified and sorted for easy location.

History: In 1794, the United States Congress authorized the construction of 6 large, powerful and fast frigates. 3 years later, only three of these six frigates had been built. In 1796, the revolutionary France began a privateer campaign that managed to capture hundreds of American merchant ships.
On the occasion of the sea without declaring with France war, came the creation of a Department of the Navy independent of the war Department, and the construction of two schooners, the Experiment and the Enterprise.
On 17 December 1799 she entered service, protecting merchant vessels from the French privateers. In the following year he captured eight French privateers and freed 11 American ships.
After the war without declaring with France, the Navy only had 13 frigates, not having any smaller ship, the achievements ensured the inclusion of this small schooner in the Navy, keeping it in service. In 1801 participated actively in the war with the Barbary States of North Africa, achieving important victories.
In 1804 he participated in hard action of bombardment of the coast and acted as gunship along with the USS Constitution, after which they signed a peace treaty in 1805. In 1813 the Enterprise starred in a dramatic duel with HMS Boxer, during which the captains of both ships died, being finally captured the Boxer.
His long career ended on 9 July 1923, when I am stranded and castaway in the small island Curaçao in the West Indies, while the crew suffered damage.
