Defending race winner Lewis Hamilton entered the US Grand Prix with a 66-point lead in the Drivers' Championship over Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari, with Hamilton's Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg a further seven points behind.
After a tense race due to the torrential conditions, Hamilton won, overtaking Nico Rosberg in the later stages after Rosberg made an unforced error, securing his third Drivers' Championship.
