The latest arrival from OS Japan is GGT15 marking the start of a whole new generation of gasoline engines.

What makes the GGT15 really interesting is the use of a G5 glow plug, specifically designed for use with this new breed of gasoline engines. This means no more ignition module or the extra weight of thebattery required to run it! Instead, just like your regular nitro glow motor, a normal 1.2V 2.5A glow plug igniter is used to start the GGT15. Once started, the ignitor can be disconnected and the engine continues to run on the G5 glow plug.

The connecting rod is equipped with needle bearings for durability and the crankcase has been slightly enlarged over an equivalent sized glow engine to accomodate the big end. The mounting holes however are the same size and spacing at 52 x 25mm. So only a slight adjustment to an existing nitro mount is required to fit the enlarged crankcase.

Due to the lack of an ignition system and battery, the GGT15 weighs in about 200g lighter than a GT15 which is 25% saving, significant when you are trying to reduce the overall weight of a plane to make it fly better.

Compared to a standard 15cc nitro engine it is down about 400rpm in maximum RPM, but the running cost of fuel is significantly lower than its nitro equivalent.

Recommended propellers range from 12x10 which will spin at 10,400 rpm up to 15x10 that will spin at 7,500 rpm.

Recommended gasoline/oil ratio is 25:1 to 50:1, depending on the quality of oil.
